Who
Adrienne Carmin is an aspiring chef and caterer. She is looking forward to creating a few tasty morsels for this event to help support an important cause that needs more attention. When not in the kitchen, Adrienne is a creative manager at a travel company and enjoys traveling to far-off places (Japan in October), working in her vegetable garden, and spending time with her lovely little pit bull, Audrey.
Dayna Loeffler is a plant scientist by day and a musician by night. Also an avid bike commuter, she believes that by simple actions it is possible to make the world a better place. Dayna enjoys taking “lomographs” with a special 35mm camera called a lomo. The lense in this camera processes light in a unique way and is capable of taking low light pictures.
Joel Puglisi is an avid photographer (joelpuglisi.com) and the editor of a travel magazine. He is happiest when he’s exploring new places and seeing new things with his camera in hand. He hopes this event will not only raise money for the refugees of Darfur, but will also inspire those who attend to learn more about the crisis and to organize similar fundraising events. He’s grateful for the efforts of his extraordinary friends and the passionate travel photographers who donated their time and art to make this event possible.
Charles Redell is a local writer. He covers energy and the environment for Energy NewsData and Sustainable Industries. He also blogs for Seattlest, Office Nomads, Natural Balance and on his own. He has been around charitable events all his life thanks to his mother’s work in non-profits. He joined his friends on this event because the ongoing and tragic situation in Darfur easily slips further from the world’s attention with each global disaster that comes along. Meanwhile thousands of people continue to live in deplorable conditions and face starvation and violence every single day. He hopes that at least one person can be made aware of what they can do to help through this event.
Jay Wergin is a print production specialist with a mind for publishing. Since graduating from the Art Institute of Seattle in 1991, he’s run his own graphic design company and has also worked for Seattle Imagesetting, Nintendo of America, and Amazon.com. He currently serves as the production manager for Virtuoso Life, an award-winning travel magazine. He lives in Seattle with his beautiful family: Leo (11 years), named after his great grandfather; Marcella (13 years), named after her great grandmother; and Jennifer, his wife of 13 years. They have lived in Seattle long enough to be considered natives and enjoy the great things the Northwest has to offer, including camping, golfing, hiking, roaming the beaches, snow skiing, and watching the sun set over the Olympic Mountain range, that is once the rain clouds part.
